I just saved $130 to $270 on a part for my car, mostly because I was polite and patient, yet persistent with the guy who worked at the junk yard.

My mechanic was not finding the part from his usual used parts sources, I found a listing for used chevy parts on Craigs list. I called, had to explain where the part was in the car while the fellow popped the hoods and looked for it in the cars. Once he found one, I checked back that my mechanic had not got one, and when I told them the guy wanted $20, they said "hurry and go get it, the part is usually $150 used and $300 new!"

I stopped at a couple of other junk yards on the way back, and you would think no one was ever polite or nice to these employees. We looked at about 5 cars in the one yard, to see if the owner could find a mirror. No luck there lol.

I guess I say all this to remind myself and others that few employees are consistently treated as responsible, intelligent adults on the job anymore, and my kindness, manners whatever stick out, and gets them on my side to see if they can help me solve my problem.....
