I'd guess that in most (all?) states the MHP Owners Ass'ns have had laws passed making the MH Seller responsible for those MHP Lot rent dues if the registered owner/buyer doesn't make them.

So a quick Google check of your state laws should tell you if you, the Seller, have that legal obligation in that state.

Looking at the logical sequence, the original MH Owner had agreed in writing to make those lot rent pmts and he's still on the hook as long as that MH is in that MHP...so just because he's now sold it doesn't relieve him of that legal contract obligation.

This is analogous to my getting new bank loan to buy a house. Then I sell the house and my buyer promises me he'll make the payments. But I'm still on that loan as the bank hasn't released me, and if my buyer doesn't pay I have to.

But it's likely that your state's laws have set this out in detail so you can check and know.
