Question on NC Deeds

This is for those of you in NC who have purchased land/ homes or other real property. I got married about a month ago due to long term temporary insanity. I tried to apply to refinance an investment property today, a property completely in my name and wholly owned by me for over a year. The loan officer told me that in this state, any properties refinanced require your spouses name be placed on the deed as well! Has anyone else dealt with this and is this in fact true? She said I'd need to consult with an attorney about a free trader agreement.
