Yes, I too use the "If you DON'T call me within 30 minutes of the appointment tomorrow/whenever, I WON'T show up."
That works very well too.
I agree with your telephone remembering problem too.....it's not hard and if someone can't pay a 50 dollar bill and their number is shut off so they get a new one.....yeah.
I get loads of numbers that are cut off within a few days of people leaving messages for me to call them on it. I make those notes too.
