You could ask them to provide a copy of a recent credit report at their
expense. And let them know that you will need copies of their driver's
licenses if you approve them. That should eliminate the ones out to
get out of a credit report.To be fair, while a majority of prospective tenants are probably yanking
your chain, some may have been treated very badly in the past few
years and trying to protect themselves. Identity theft is on the rise
everywhere. Happened to us. Happened to my daughter the first year
she moved away from home. It's so inconvenient and not always easy
to resolve.Many tenants also suffered the fate of having landlords that lost their
properties in foreclosure. They may have lost their deposit, made to
move at the last minute, etc. They have a right to be paranoid, IMO.That being said, a credit check is minimum, so applicants are going to
